The partnership with End Hunger CT, Sodexo, Naugatuck Public Schools and United Way brought together over 30 volunteers who disseminated information to our community regarding the Free Summer Lunch Program to raise awareness of nutritious meals and snacks available for kids 18 years and younger at no cost to them. In addition, we had over 25 volunteers who help set up the Block Party. Over 150 children and adults attended the Block Party and visited tables with activities and information. Thank you to all our volunteers and organizations who set up tables and provided a rewarding experience for the children. Organizations included: Ion Bank, Sodexo, Naugatuck Partnership for Children, Smile Builders, Naugatuck Youth Services, Naugatuck YMCA, Staywell Health Center, Stokes Family Counseling and Fuel Up to Play. We are grateful to Liberty Bank Foundation for sponsoring the Ice Cream truck, YoCrunch for providing yogurt and St. Michael’s Episcopal Church for the use of the church hall. Thanks Ed Carter for providing the audio system so we could have background music and a SPECIAL THANK YOU goes out to Kate Murphy of Sodexo and Shannon Yearwood of End Hunger CT for all their hard work in making this a successful event.
